One year ago today, mHUB celebrated the Grand Opening of its new home on Chicago's Near West Side. Positioned between an industrial west and a tech-centered east, the clock tower on Fulton was brought back to life by the mHUB community. 👏 for mHUB portfolio company, Farm to Flame Energy Inc., who recently won a Pharrell Williams' Black Ambition prize of 50k as part of the three month program. Farm to Flame is providing scalable, end-to-end electricity generation systems for communities in emerging markets by transforming biomass waste into clean energy. The startup has raised $3M and has closed $24.9M in contracts and completed the mHUB Accelerator program earlier this year. mHUB congratulates Meredith O'Connor, named a Notable Nonprofit Board Leader by Crain's Chicago Business, for the profound impact she's had on the mHUB organization. Meredith, international director and executive managing director at JLL, became mHUB’s Board Chair in 2024 and has been an active board member since 2017. She led mHUB’s 2023 relocation and helped identify and secure funding for the $50.2 million transaction to acquire and renovate 1623 West Fulton Street. “Meredith has been essential to establishing mHUB as a national economic development institution,” said Haven Allen, CEO and Co-Founder, mHUB. “She has shown tremendous support and engagement of the mHUB mission since before it was even launched, and today she leads the board as the organization charts to further expand its impact and expertise in commercializing technologies that impact humanity.
