About us
Our family has been building in Southern Nevada since 1931; starting back when the Jones family settled in the Las Vegas Valley to help build the Boulder (Hoover) Dam. The next generation was born with building in their blood. In fact, in 1989, after spending years gaining practical construction wisdom and developing a belief in absolute perfection, Steve Jones founded Merlin Custom Home Builders. Over time, the Merlin name became synonymous with unique custom home building. Our reputation for impeccable quality, honesty, and reliability has opened many doors. We were recently awarded the prestigious National Custom Home Builder of the Year 2017 by the NAHB. We have also been honored to build a home for the “Street of Dreams” at MacDonald Highlands, as well as The New American Home 2004®. We have the distinction of building custom homes for two past presidents of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association and for many top gaming and corporate executives in Las Vegas. Our team provides an extraordinary level of personal service – the kind that is expected and appreciated by our unique clientele. Merlin also understands every detail needed to build a breathtaking living environment with a timeless design that maximizes views and the full potential of each property. We have systems and procedures in place, including personal visits, checklists, calls, emails, and reports to ensure your project stays organized and on track. Clients receive detailed, customized accounting reports each week which address every budget line item, additional work authorization (change orders), weekly billings, and projected costs. Merlin also provides clients with timelines, drop-dead dates for decisions, and cash flow projections. For logistical convenience, our superintendents have field computers, smart phones, and tablets to manage digital communications and keep everyone in sync. Merlin has the staff, years of experience, and resources to orchestrate complicated design elements and technologies so you can enjoy this exciting and creative process.

The Southern Nevada Conservancy is a non profit organization that provides opportunities to discover, understand and enjoy public lands. Every other year one of our clients hosts a Garden Party Fundraising event to raise awareness for nature and the impact we have on our environment held at a home that Merlin built. This year Daryl attended the fundraiser and Tommy Thayer, the guitarist for Kiss auctioned off an autographed guitar. We couldn't be more happy to support the Southern Nevada Nature Conservancy! We are so proud to announce and congratulate Erica Morrison, our Chief Operating Officer on her 20 years with Merlin! Erica has been integral to the company’s success and has been a consistent, steady contributor to the company through the highs and lows over the past 20 years. Erica started her career at Merlin in 2004 as a receptionist. Her leadership skills, dedication and drive eventually led to her becoming a Project Manager and she was later promoted to Office Manager.
