Meta's robot finger can feel things? Meta is working with sensor firm—GelSight—and Robotics company—Wonkik Robotics—to create an artificial fingertip with “human-level” touch capabilities that can touch, feel, and respond to things like a needle prick. Calling it ‘Digit 360’, Meta isn’t planning to release this to consumers, it’s for scientists to help them advance research into AI that can “better understand and model the physical world.” Digit 360 digitizes touch signals, using AI chips and around 18 sensing features, as each touch interaction has “a unique profile produced by the mechanical, geometrical, and chemical properties of a surface.” #MedTech #Technology #medtechman #Innovation #meta
