Dr. Craig Pearl knows that maxillofacial surgery can be an unforgiving business. “Because you’re dealing with the face, you can’t hide errors under clothing,” he says. “Patients wear whatever you do, right in the open.” Those results are one reason that Dr. Pearl, who is a teaching physician at University of Texas Medical Center Houston, is a proponent of patient specific implants and 3D virtual surgical planning. He has partnered with MedCAD™ to create surgical plans and custom implants for more than 40 total joint replacement cases and works closely with our team as we come up with new and better ways to help his patients. But Dr. Pearl’s adventures aren’t all in the operating theatre. He sat down for an interview with us recently to tell us about his education in his native South Africa, his other life as a firefighter, and what he loves most about teaching the next generation of doctors and surgeons. Read the whole interview here.". https://lnkd.in/eyjn7WnM #medtech #medcad #3Dprinting #medicaltechnology #meddevice #healthcare #medical3d #medical3dprinting #implants #patientcare #surgicalinnovation #medicalinnovation

We are incredibly honored to share the latest chapter in recent humanitarian work reconstructing the faces of wounded soldiers in Kyiv. Dr. Jorge Corona, part of the ‘Dallas Medical Miracle Team’, recently returned from Ukraine, where he used MedCAD’s custom-designed, 3D-printed facial implants to help reconstruct the face of a brave Ukrainian soldier injured in battle. These implants are proudly made layer by layer using cutting-edge titanium laser technology. This mission, supported by Leap Global Missions, exemplifies the life-changing possibilities that advanced medical technology can bring. Every implant represents a step toward healing, hope, and humanity—and we are honored to be part of these soldiers’ journeys. https://lnkd.in/gxa4Jecc #InnovationInAction #medtech #MedCAD #3DPrinting #DallasMedicalMiracle #LeapGlobalMissions #Ukraine

We celebrate the bravery of all veterans, especially those like Gandalf—a dedicated American who answered the call of duty far from home. Gandalf joined the Ukrainian forces, carrying the legacy of lost comrades and fighting for the freedoms we hold dear. On September 11, 2024, a solemn anniversary in American history, Gandalf sustained a serious injury. Last Thursday, thanks to the generosity of the American NGO @Weatherman Foundation and a talented Ukrainian surgical team, he underwent a successful Mandibular Reconstruction with a Fibula Free Flap using MedCAD’s AccuPlate® custom mandibular plates and surgical guides. Gandalf has since shared that he’s on the mend and is filled with renewed strength. As he told us, “The sooner this war can end, the better.” Gandalf carries with him the stories and memories of those he’s lost, honoring them in every step and choice he makes: “I feel like it’s up to me. I lost a lot of good people, and I have to carry them with me... It’s their reputation, their stories, their memories that I bring with me.” Today, we honor Gandalf’s selflessness and all veterans who serve, protect, and carry the weight of those no longer with us. May his courage inspire us to work toward a more peaceful world. #VeteransDay #HonorAndSacrifice #medcad #medtech #medcad #3d #3Dprinting #medicaltechnology

MedCAD is thrilled to be sharing our "patient-matched" AccuPlan surgical planning and AccuPlate implants for treating the traumatic injuries of Ukrainian soldiers. Our 3-D printed in titanium implants are correcting facial defects suffered by soldiers and restoring lost function. The implants are developed from soldier’s CT data provided by Kyiv based surgeons. CEO Nancy Hairston teamed with LEAP Global Missions and Dr. Jorge Corona to offer life changing surgeries for Ukrainian soldiers injured while defending their homeland. #medtech #medcad #3d #3Dprinting #medicaltechnology #meddevice #healthcare https://lnkd.in/g6NXe7b7

#ShowCase | Ongoing Mandibular reconstruction revision surgery ⭐ Discover the power of precision with MedCAD's patient-specific titanium plates. A 1.5mm superior plate with monocortical fixation and a 2.0mm inferior plate with bicortical fixation capable of supporting the loose bone fragments were requested for this case. Each plate size and shape was strategically chosen by the surgeon to fulfill distinct roles in a favorable patient outcome. Both AccuPlate Patient Specific Milled Titanium plates and Patient Specific 3D Printed Titanium plates were used to achieve this surgical goal. The surgical plan included removing inadequate existing hardware, repositioning the left and right mandible segments to correct the occlusion, and replacing the hardware with plates that provide adequate stability. To help take this case from virtual planning to the OR with efficiency, a patient-specific occlusal-based cutting guide with predictive screw holes was designed. This custom guide was based on input from the surgeon during the planning session, and helped support a better patient outcome with ease. Elevate your cases with MedCAD. 🚀
