About us
For generations, McWane Ductile has been an industry leader in water distribution and infrastructure that provide plumbing and clean water works systems. The history of McWane Ductile traces back to 1871, when Charles Phillip (C.P.) McWane entered the foundry business in Lynchburg, Virginia, with his sons, Henry and James Ransom (J.R.). McWane Inc. wasn’t formed until 1977. As the country grew, so did the need to supply flourishing cities with clean water and to remove waste safely. In 1921, J.R. McWane started the McWane Cast Iron Pipe Company, a company that was designed and built as a specialty foundry for small diameter pipe. McWane Ductile’s expansion continued throughout the century by incorporating multiple facilities, including Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, established in 1926 with McWane as a 50% partner; Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, purchased in 1975; Clow Water Systems Company, purchased in 1985; and Canada Pipe Company, purchased in 1989. The acquisition of these facilities strengthened McWane Ductile’s capabilities by bringing together the industry’s most experienced manufacturers and latest engineering techniques to create one iron-strong brand. Canada Pipe, also a member of the McWane ductile iron pipe companies, will retain its name, which best reflects its unique position as the leading ductile iron pipe provider in Canada. With over 900 employees, McWane Ductile is recognized today as the country's most experienced manufacturer and supplier of ductile iron pipe. The company's modern facilities offer 3" to 36" ductile iron pressure pipe and fittings to meet customer needs throughout the United States and Canada.

For over 20 years, McWane Ductile—New Jersey (MDJ) has handed out winter hats and gloves to the Phillipsburg community at the annual tree lighting. This year, they provided over 800 sets with the help of a partner organization, B.A.C.K., and the Grinch. MDJ employees also collected toys for the 6th annual Klawz Toy Run, benefitting the Firth Youth Center and its 400+ children. A toy store is set up, and parents can shop for presents for their children at no cost. #GivingBack #Community #HolidayHelp #IronStrong

DYK: Pipes manufactured by McWane Ductile are made using the De Lavaud Process. In our industrial casting machines, molten Ductile iron is poured into a mold, spinning at high speed. The iron flows onto the mold's inside, forming the pipe's shape. Sparks will fly! This method of casting pipe was created in 1921 by Brazilian Dimitri Sensaud de Lavaud. Over time, the quality and efficiency of the process have been refined to produce #IronStrong, stainable, and durable pipe. #YouAskWeAnswer #Manufacturing #Science #Technology #DIPipeEducation https://lnkd.in/eDXNEZX9
