Executive Vice President, Hot Wheels & Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, Inc.

Hot Wheels is more than just a toy, it’s a brand that connects car enthusiasts across generations and is a gateway to memories created during childhood. I recently spoke with Jaclyn Peiser at The Washington Post about how adult fans are celebrating their passion for car culture through Hot Wheels collecting. Who still remembers their first Hot Wheels? 🚙

  • The holiday magic is alive and thriving at Mattel HQ! To celebrate an amazing year of play, purpose, and innovation, we transformed our campus into a winter wonderland. Mattel employees enjoyed the joyful sound of holiday carolers, a merry-go-round, and seasonal treats. Mattel’s afternoon was filled with celebration and connection, reminding us of the power of play – not just in the toys we create, but the moments we share. ⭐️🎠🎶

On Friday, December 6, the East Aurora Leadership team visited John R. Oishei Children's Hospital to spread holiday cheer! Santa, Buddy and the elves visited room to room and handed out toys to patients throughout the hospital. A huge thank you to the Child Life team who helps make our yearly visit a success. On Saturday, December 7, we attended the annual Festival of Trees supporting John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. Our “Countdown to Christmas” and “Race to Christmas” trees were auctioned off during the live auction at the gala and raised a total of $49,500 for the hospital. “Proceeds from this year’s Festival of Trees will directly benefit mental and behavioral health care for kids at OCH and beyond. Our team of pediatric specialists is ready to provide these programs—and hope—for families.” Thank you to our Festival of Trees design team for creating two beautiful displays and thank you to the Mattel Global Trade Show Production team for their help on the Hot Wheels tree! We are already looking forward to next year.

We’re thrilled to announce that Mattel, Inc. will receive our inaugural Evelyn Y. Davis Corporate Changemaker Award at our Women Making History Awards Gala in Washington, DC on March 20, 2025. Mattel is being honored with this first-ever corporate award, recognizing the societal impact of its brands like Barbie on generations of girls, and its purpose to empower all to explore the wonder of childhood and reach their full potential. Accepting the award on the company’s behalf will be Lisa McKnight, executive vice president and chief brand officer of Mattel. “It is an incredible honor for Mattel to be recognized with the inaugural Evelyn Y. Davis Corporate Changemaker Award,” said McKnight. “This award reflects Mattel’s commitment to our purpose, the impact of initiatives like the Barbie Dream Gap Project, and how our brands like Barbie, Monster High and American Girl allow generations of children everywhere to see themselves in our products, content, and experiences.” “Mattel is a trailblazer in challenging stereotypes and advancing gender equity through the power of play and storytelling,” added NWHM Board Chair Susan D Whiting. “Mattel has shown an unwavering commitment to empowering girls to see themselves as limitless, capable and powerful.” The Women Making History Awards Gala will celebrate extraordinary trailblazing women, such as those previously honored like Rita Moreno, Maya Angelou and Katherine Johnson—all of whom have also been celebrated by Barbie with dolls made in their likeness—who have made profound contributions and inspire the next generation of leaders, change agents, and history makers. By honoring companies like Mattel, NWHM hopes to encourage more brands to take meaningful action to advance gender equity and representation, creating a lasting impact for future generations. If only the toy business was child's play. Instead, it's one of the most unforgiving of industries: The embodiment of what-have-you-done-for-me-lately, where products endure for maybe a season (if at all), where brands which delight generation after generation of children are few and far between. Even if you're Mattel, Inc., a company so well known it is an outlier in the toy space – Quick! Name another — one that delights children with toys everybody knows, among them Barbie, Hot Wheels and American Girl. And yet, when Ynon Kreiz took over as CEO in 2018 as the company's fourth CEO in four years — the previous three all resigned — the 80-year-old company wasn't doing very well. But Kreiz was already on the board, a perch which gave him enough exposure to Mattel's problems for him to reach a game-changing conclusion: Customers don't just buy this toy or that. They're not even customers. They're fans. They're … an audience. In this edition of This is Working, Kreiz talks about how the Barbie movie came together, how he hires, fires and reassigns, and his three chief management principles To keep up with these conversations and be inspired by the world’s top leaders, subscribe to This is Working: linkedin.com/thisisworking 📝Are you a This is Working regular or maybe this is your first time? We'd love it if you'd take this survey and let us know what you think of the show: https://lnkd.in/eeSnexVw 📝

  • In celebration of #GivingTuesday, Mattel’s CEO, Ynon Kreiz, hosted a fireside chat with Katie Fitzgerald, Global President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities, to discuss Mattel’s ongoing partnership with the organization and the role we can all play in supporting the wellbeing of children and their families globally. Following the inspiring conversation, teams in El Segundo gathered to build play kits to be distributed to Ronald McDonald Houses globally, bringing play into houses that serve families who must travel far from home for their children's care and treatment. Thank you to all who volunteered! #MattelProud
