Recenly we had a group of 5th year architecture students from Cal Poly visit our office as well as some of our projects here in Northwest Arkansas. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our space and city with these future architects.

Architecture that’s thick, slow, and implicit.
About us
Since 1992, Marlon Blackwell Architects has designed for its clients award-winning, environmentally responsive projects. Our belief that architecture can happen anywhere, at any scale, at any budget - for anyone - drives us to challenge the conventions and models that often obscure other possibilities. We use an economy of means to deliver a maximum of meaning in places where architecture is often not expected to be found. As an agile, full service design firm, we advocate a participatory, collaborative design process between the client, contractors, and architect, where all voices are heard from conceptualization to the realization of each project. In every instance, we strive to express the richness of the places we work and the ideals of the people and institutions we serve.

A month or so ago we posted that were a firm featured by Forbes Magazine as one of the leading residental architecture designers. The architecture section of Apple News confirmed that is true with the Shaw residence being the headlining photo for that feature. #forbesmagazine

"...the building creates a strong and welcoming presence on the once-vacant edge along Main Street, fulfilling the ideal role of a school as an extension of the community." This is a quote from the jury about the Thaden Perfromance building. It was the education winner and overall finalist for project of the year by The Architect's Newspaper. Thank you to Thaden School for their partnership in supporting our mission to help education-focused clients.

We are deeply honored to announce that Marlon Blackwell Architects has been recognized on Forbes’ inaugural list of Top 200 Residential Architects in America! The list identifies the architects who are, “the nation’s finest practitioners of the creation of “home,” and the residential specialists best suited to help you build the setting for your life’s most meaningful experiences”. This honor reflects our belief that architecture can happen anywhere, at any scale, at any budget - for anyone - which drives us to challenge the conventions and models that often obscure other possibilities. Special thanks to our incredible team and clients for making this possible! Thank you @forbes and congratulations to our peers and friends that are also included on this prestigious list. #ForbesTop200 #ResidentialArchitecture #Home

With a heavy heart, we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, Curtis Moody. Curt was the founder of the country's largest African American owned architecture firm. Not only do we honor his legacy, but we remember what we've shared. We have collaborated on projects, and we have celebrated big wins. Please consider donating to the Legacy House Fund, a philanthropic arm that Curt established to give back to our communities. This affordable housing initiative was a testament to his belief in creating a more equitable and inclusive world. https://lnkd.in/eFVjsEy8

We are excited to be apart of the AN Interior Top 50 list for 2024! Our 5th consecutive year of being recognized along side some of the most outstanding north American architecture and design firms working in interiors - what an honor! “Marlon Blackwell Architects uses an agile approach that turns economic constraints and limitations into meaningful, honest, and dignified buildings and interiors.”

One of the highlights of architecture is being involved in a profession that students find fascinating and full of potential. Thanks two two of our staff, Matthew Cadle and Yume Rudzinski for speaking at one of Prairie Grove Junior High's Career Development Classes this week about what it means to me an architect. They've received great feeback about how much the students loved it and are still talking abou how much they learned.

Receiving awards from your AIA chapter is valued recognition. Winning two of them is twice as nice. Thank you to AIA Arkansas for the great conference and allowing Marygrove Early Recognition Center and the Ledger building to receive a Merit and Honor award. And above all, thank you to our partners and consultants on helping these buildings achieve these accolades. #AIA #AIAArkansas
