About us

Collectively, MNR attorneys have tried more than 100 cases to verdict while winning significant courtroom victories in both plaintiff and defense cases. In addition, our founding partners share a decorated background as former federal prosecutors. Our trial experience becomes your advantage at all stages of civil litigation, criminal litigation and government investigations, and serves as the ultimate leverage in cases approaching trial. We relish the tough fights, with the bulk of our practice focusing on high stakes or “bet the company” cases, whether in South Florida or elsewhere in the United States. We represent individuals and businesses of all sizes, from Fortune 100 to family-owned companies, and prioritize our clients by handling only a small number of cases at any given time.

Updates

  • MNR partner Jeffrey Neiman has been retained as part of a powerhouse legal team to represent Miami Dolphins’ superstar Tyreek Hill in a civil rights case against the Miami-Dade Police Department.   Tyreek is pursuing justice following a troubling traffic stop involving Miami-Dade Police Officer Danny Torres. The incident, which escalated unnecessarily, saw Tyreek forcibly removed from his vehicle, despite the situation not warranting such force. In addition to Jeff, Tyreek has retained Julius B. Collins (Atlanta, Georgia), Stephen B. Kelly, Jr. Jacksonville, Florida) and well-known civil rights attorney, Devon M. Jacob (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) to challenge this injustice and push for meaningful police reform.   “It is already clear that well before this incident, Miami-Dade County should have fired Officer Torres,” Jeff said. “Instead, the County repeatedly returned Officer Torres to the street permitting him to use his police authority to terrorize people.”

  • MNR attorneys Jeff Marcus, Kathryn Meyers, and Daniel Rashbaum secured a probation-only sentence for a client in a complex, long-running federal fraud case marred by court findings of prosecutorial misconduct by the original prosecution team. After the district court vacated the conviction and 7-year prison sentence and ordered a retrial, MNR stepped in. Working with a new government team of prosecutors and case supervisors, MNR was able to obtain a plea deal with a joint recommendation to a sentence of probation. At the February 25, 2024, hearing, U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles agreed with our recommendation and made a point to thank defense counsel for our “tenacity” in defending the case, calling the result a "just and fair resolution." After nine years of litigation, our client got to go home to his family yesterday safe in the knowledge that he is free to go live his life. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gAGFWtsA.

  • MNR successfully defended our client, the estate of Texaco heiress Lavern Gaynor, in a jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against $21 million in penalties and interest claimed by the IRS. The jury delivered its verdict in under an hour finding that the government failed to prove that Gaynor willfully failed to disclose interests in her Swiss bank accounts. “We are grateful to the jury for applying common sense and rejecting the IRS position that our then 87-year-old client willfully failed to file." Jeff Neiman told Tax Notes. Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/ecmiWJuj
