Change management is focusing on the wrong things. Traditional change management talks about “managing resistance” through messaging, business benefits, and WIIFM (What’s In It For Me?). But resistance isn’t something to be managed—it’s often a signal that employees see real problems with the proposed solution. Instead of focusing on “bottom-up” resistance, organizations should invest in leadership development and human capital strategies that build teams ready for change—teams that are resilient, collaborative, and solution-focused. True change happens when leaders have a growth mindset—when they’re inclusive, flexible, and open to learning. When leaders invite their teams into the process, they talk about impacts, roadblocks, and how to work through them together. Leadership is change leadership. If your organization is experiencing change resistance, start by asking: Do our leaders demonstrate a growth mindset? #growthmindset #inclusiveleadership

I had the privilege of attending the Atlantic Economic Council’s Business Outlook Conference – an impactful event that offered invaluable insights and strategies to help organizations position for success in 2025. Economists presented the latest data and provided a thorough analysis of New Brunswick’s economic outlook, examining key sectors, housing and labour market trends, trade opportunities, immigration, investment opportunities and the overall business climate. In addition, thought leaders shared how they’re driving growth by enhancing productivity within their organizations and leading the way in investing in innovative practices and technologies to improve efficiency and stay competitive.
