During my second trip to Walt Disney World, I decided I wanted to work at Disney. That was it. My mind was made up. I was six years old. I still remember it to this day. My sisters and I were having such an incredible time on our vacation that my parents extended our stay at the Polynesian Resort. I loved the fantasy of Disney. It felt like anything was possible, including working there. While waiting for the monorail to take us back to the resort, I decided this was what I wanted to be when I grew up. I am going to be a Disney Cast Member. This picture was taken that day, and I still pose at one of the green hitching posts when I’m in the park (I likely have hundreds of pictures over the years, given that I worked at Disney for seven years). As the Head of Operations at Disney-MGM Studios, I had the honor and pleasure of giving Roy Disney a backstage tour of the brand-new Tower of Terror. I have to admit: I was a little awestruck spending time with Roy. He looked so much like Walt, and he had the same captivating presence that Walt exuded on The Wonderful World of Disney (a show that had defined my Sunday nights as a child!). It was pretty magical. ☺️ Truth be told, my entire experience working at Disney was pretty magical. It was so much more than just a job—it was a masterclass in the art of making magic happen.
