This year’s “Open Day” at the LYB training center in Wesseling once again drew a large crowd. Last month, over 500 young adults, parents and teachers joined us to explore the opportunities and benefits of building a career with LYB. The event kicked off with a 20-minute plant tour, offering a closer look at the workshops, laboratories and classrooms within the training center. Our trainers were on hand to answer questions and share insights about careers such as chemical technician, industrial mechanic, electronics technician for automation technology and industrial clerk. “We offer potential skilled workers a first-class start to their careers," said Klaus Vollmert, head of training at our LYB Wesseling site. Following October's severe flash flooding in Valencia, Spain, LYB contributed 100,000 EUR to Càritas Diocesana de Tarragona, a local non-profit aiding those affected. Through the LYB matching gifts program, employees raised an additional 6,000 EUR for the organization. At LYB, we actively listen to community needs to contribute the necessary support to help rebuild. Site leaders in Tarragona met with the organization to extend our support to the impacted communities. Yesterday in NYC, our EVP Yvonne Van Der Laan joined industry leaders in a thought-provoking panel hosted by Société de Chimie Industrielle. The panel explored the pressing market and societal trends driving demand for recyclable and renewable-based plastics. Yvonne emphasized the critical need for scalable technologies and innovative business models to meet customer needs while focusing on sustainable value creation. “We want to ensure that hard-to-recycle mixed plastic waste is truly diverted from incineration and landfill. That is why we are investing in the future of our MoReTec technology as we scale it. We had the foundation-laying ceremony for our first commercial-scale MoReTec unit in September with German Chancellor Scholz. Our first single-train MoReTec-1 unit will have a 50KTA capacity, representing the plastic waste of the annual consumption of 1.2 million German citizens.
