Our Advanced Endoscopy Program is redefining gastrointestinal care with innovative, minimally invasive procedures that improve patient outcomes and reduce recovery times. Learn more from Dr. Singh in the post below, or visit us at https://lnkd.in/eSepPxhk. #MinimallyInvasive #Gastroenterology
The Advanced Endoscopy Program at Luminis Health is at the forefront of minimally invasive gastrointestinal procedures. In the past month, our team has successfully performed several cutting edge advanced procedures including: 1. Transgastric EDGE (EUS-Directed Transgastric ERCP): This innovative technique allows for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients with altered anatomy, such as those with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. By creating a temporary access route to the excluded stomach, we can effectively manage biliary conditions without the need for more invasive surgical approaches. 2. EUS-Guided Gastrojejunostomy (EUS-GJ): Utilizing endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), we create a bypass from the stomach to the jejunum in cases of gastric outlet obstruction. This procedure offers a less invasive alternative to surgical bypass, providing symptom relief and improved quality of life for patients with obstructive gastrointestinal conditions. 3. EUS-Guided Choledochoduodenostomy: For patients with biliary obstructions where traditional ERCP is not feasible, this technique establishes a direct connection between the bile duct and the duodenum under EUS guidance. It serves as an effective alternative for biliary drainage, especially in complex cases. 4. Colonic Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD): This advanced endoscopic technique enables the en bloc removal of large colorectal lesions, reducing the need for surgical intervention. By precisely dissecting the submucosal layer, we can achieve higher rates of complete resection, which is crucial for preventing recurrence. 5. Gastric Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (G-POEM): G-POEM is a minimally invasive procedure for treating refractory gastroparesis. By performing a myotomy of the pyloric sphincter endoscopically, we can enhance gastric emptying and significantly alleviate symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. 6. Pancreatic Endotherapy via Pancreatoscopy: Direct visualization of the pancreatic ducts using pancreatoscopy allows for targeted interventions, including stone removal and biopsy of suspicious lesions. This approach enhances diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic efficacy in managing pancreatic disorders. Our commitment to adopting and refining these cutting-edge procedures reflects our dedication to providing state-of-the-art care. By embracing these minimally invasive techniques, we aim to improve patient outcomes, reduce recovery times, and offer solutions that were previously unavailable or required more invasive surgical methods. We are proud to offer these advanced endoscopic services and remain committed to advancing the field of gastroenterology through innovation and excellence in patient care. #AdvancedEndoscopy #Gastroenterology #InnovativeMedicine #PatientCare #GPOEM #EUSGJ #PancreaticHealth #ColonicESD #BiliaryDrainage Mitchell Schwartz, MD/MBA Stephen Selinger Barry Meisenberg Matthew Robins John Marcus Guy, MHA Sarah Brace MSN, RN

It’s our people who make the difference! For 30 years, Chona Hamrock has been more than a NICU nurse at Teddy’s Place at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center—she’s been a part of countless families’ lives. Thirteen years ago, Chona cared for baby Avery Jo Katski in the NICU. Inspired by that experience, Avery Jo’s mom started a heartwarming tradition: donating beautifully decorated Christmas trees each year to mothers of premature babies. Now, in a touching annual ritual, Avery Jo takes a photo with Nurse Chona to honor her and show the family’s enduring gratitude. Thank you to the Katski family for your incredible kindness and to Chona for exemplifying our RISE values: Respect, Inclusion, Service, and Excellence. You are what makes our community so special!

Our heart surgery program has helped more than 100 patients manage post-surgical pain with cryo nerve block therapy. This innovative treatment uses a unique freezing method to temporarily block pain signals from nerves, providing relief that lasts for months—much longer than a typical local anesthetic. Luminis Health is proud to be the only hospital in Maryland offering this tool for post-heart surgery pain relief. Want to learn more about our heart surgery program?
