About us

The Louisiana House of Representatives is the lower body of the Louisiana State Legislature. The House consists of 105 members and meets at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Each member represents an average of 43,174 residents, as of the 2010 Census. Members serve four-year terms with a term limit of three terms (twelve years). The House is one of the five state legislative lower houses that has a four-year term, as opposed to the near-universal two-year term. 2016 SESSION INFORMATION The 2016 First Extraordinary Session convened on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Final Adjournment no later than 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 The 2016 Regular Legislative Session will convene at noon on Monday, March 14, 2016.
