Since the election we have been getting a lot of questions about what’s coming next on federal energy policy. There’s no one better to answer than Lot Sixteen’s EVP and General Counsel Kellie Donnelly. Kellie was recently on an Energy Bar Association panel last week looking at exactly that – “Post-Election Energy Landscape: What’s Ahead - From the Lens of Capitol Hill, FERC, and Industry Stakeholders.” Kellie anticipates a lot of activity in the 119th Congress, with new leadership at Congressional committees and at FERC, the availability of reconciliation and the CRA to the Republican trifecta, and the possible claw-back of IRA clean energy tax incentives. If you have specific questions about what energy policy and regulation could look like during Trump’s first 100 days in office, drop us a line.

The incoming Trump Administration and Republican-led Congress will bring a new approach to energy and grid-related policies, which has prompted conversations on what a second Trump term will mean for the American electric grid and energy landscape. Lot Sixteen EVP and General Counsel Kellie Donnelly recently sat down with Bryce Yonker, host of Grid Forward Chats, to discuss potential shifts in energy policy under President-elect Trump, how Congressional Republicans could use the reconciliation process and Congressional Review Act, and how grid innovation may be affected. The leadership of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is uncertain going into President-Elect Trump’s second term. Some experts have recently weighed in on what the Commission could look like next year, including Lot Sixteen EVP and General Counel Kellie Donnelly. Kellie discussed FERC Chair Willie Phillips’ pending decision on whether to resign in a new article by POLITICO’s Catherine Morehouse. Kellie’s prediction: Most FERC chairs of outgoing parties resign once the incoming president is inaugurated. While this did not happen when President Biden came into office, Kellie’s opinion is that this is one place where Trump’s election may see a return to the norm. More here: https://lnkd.in/ecGwvn6i
