Bridging the gap between workforce preparedness and employer’s needs in the LA region.

About us

We are a consortium of 19 community colleges, and our work extends beyond the borders of our campuses. We’re advocates of regional change, focused on opening doors for adult, disenfranchised, and incumbent workers; facilitating upskilling for the region’s existing labor force; expanding employment opportunities for students, and offering more highly trained candidates for employers.

  • We want to highlight the wonderful achievements from Blair High School earlier this year and congratulate them on their stellar performance in the National Sports Medicine Competition. Matilda Pearce ranked first place, Naomi Suubi Kirya-Sales earned second place, and eight students from Blair High School ranked in the top 25 out of 350 students in their division. About 60 schools sent students to the nationals, which celebrates knowledge of sports medicine and athletic training. This contest is sponsored by the American Academic Competition Institute. The students had about five months to prepare for the two-part competition, which included practical tests on anatomy and physiology as well as exams to demonstrate knowledge and skills on sports medicine. Special recognition to: 🎓 Alicia Lopez, Career Pathway Specialist 📚 Professor Tommy Reyes, Coordinator & Professor, Architecture and Drafting & Design Technology Program 🌟 Jacob Crespo, an outstanding articulated student from Citrus College a graduate of Glendora High School Jacob’s success story is a powerful testament to the life-changing opportunities these programs create. It is through partnerships, dedication, and innovative programming that students are set on pathways to success and bright futures. Thank you, Citrus College, for your leadership and commitment to student success. Together, we’re shaping the future of education and workforce development in our region! Additional information about the Strong Workforce Regional Project: In the Los Angeles (LA) region, the collaboration between the statewide K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) and Regional Strong Workforce Program dollars is designed to foster alignment between K12 and community college CTE pathways. Even before the inception of K12 SWP, the LA region recognized the critical need to build K14 CTE Pathways—connecting K12 CTE courses with community college CTE certificates and associate degrees. The Los Angeles County CTE Deans, under the guidance of the LA Regional Consortium (LARC), spearheaded efforts to fund a Career Pathway Specialist at each of the 19 community colleges to develop these pathways. With additional resources from K12 SWP funding, key roles such as K14 Technical Assistance Providers and K12 Pathway Coordinators have further amplified collaboration between K12 and community colleges. This coordinated effort enhances alignment, improves efficiency, and ensures a seamless educational journey for students—strengthening workforce readiness across the region. #CareerEducation #CTE #StudentSuccess #K14Pathways #WorkforceDevelopment #CitrusCollege #LARC #EducationInnovation

  • We want to congratulate the eleven COMPTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (CUSD) teams (115 students) who recently participated in the CUSD FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics competition! This event marked the beginning of the FTC season, giving teams from Centennial High School, Compton High School, Compton Early College High School, Davis Middle School, and Dominguez High School a chance to test their robots in a competitive setting. FTC participants work alongside mentors to design, build, and program robots for exciting challenges. These challenges involve both autonomous and driver-controlled phases, where robots perform tasks and compete in two-on-two matches. Beyond robotics, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, and gain confidence through their participation in FTC.
