  • Happy 5th birthday to the United States Space Force! On December 20, 2019, the United States Space Force (USSF) became the sixth and newest branch of the Armed Forces. The establishment of the USSF resulted from the recognition that space was a national security imperative. With the growing threat posed by near-peer competitors in space, there was a need for a military service focused solely on pursuing superiority in the space domain. The Space Force was started within the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping Space Guardians to conduct global space operations.

  • Today we celebrate the United States National Guard on their birthday. On December 13th, 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were organized because of an order from the Massachusetts Bay Colony's General Court. They were organized into permanent regiments - the 181st Infantry, the 182nd Infantry, the 101st Field Artillery, and the 101st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard to better defend the colony. These four units are the descendants of the original three militia regiments, the oldest units of the US military. Happy Birthday to the National Guard!
