Getting close to wrapping up construction at North&Broadway in downtown Durham and the homes look awesome. Drywall is complete in the last 8 homes and we should finish just in time to take advantage of lower interest rates in the spring. Maybe if I wish for them it will come true, right? Hart Roberts and his talented team at Chair 8 helped us to name this project. Harvest speaks to growth and renewal, and the name is also a reference to the land’s former use as a tobacco farm. Approved! Last week the Town of Fuquay-Varina unanimously approved Lock7 Development's proposed mixed-use project at 614 Old Honeycutt Road. The project will deliver up to 51,000 SF of retail/non-residential space and 56 townhomes. The walkable design features a one-acre civic green, a greenway connection, a dog park and multiple gathering spaces. A woman called me today who bought a condo from us in 2014 (!!!) and had a question about where to buy a replacement part for her patio door. I directed her to the right place. I hadn't thought about this project for years but it was a pivotal one for Lock7 Development. We bought an old brownstone in Dupont Circle at 1817 Riggs Place NW and converted it to three large condos. Lindsay Reishman helped us sell the penthouse for almost $1.3MM, which ten years ago was about double our previous high sale. The city failed our final Certificate of Occupancy inspection because the recessed lights didn't have the correct fire rating. We had to tear them all out, install boxes above each one made of special cement board, and then re-install. You can see the crew working on that process in the third picture. That was an expensive mistake!
