Islanders helping islanders advance the U.N. SDGs through locally-driven, culturally-informed solutions.

About us

The Local2030 Islands Network was announced at U.N. Headquarters in September 2019 during the U.N. General Assembly. The Network brings together a diverse set of island nations, states/provinces, communities and cultures from all regions of the world -- islands tied together by their shared island experience, cultures, strengths and challenges. It is a platform that supports the on-the-ground delivery of the SDGs, with a focus on those furthest behind and a convergence point between local and regional governments and their associations, national governments, businesses, community-based organizations and other local actors, and the United Nations system. Lastly, it seeks to develop local solutions to global sustainability challenges, building on island culture and values, and indigenous knowledge.
