It’s a difficult thing to confront: What do we do when a kid becomes physically aggressive? The standard advice is defuse, de-escalate, and keep everyone safe. But Collaborative & Proactive Solutions goes further than that. It's crucial to identify and solve the problem that caused the child to become physically aggressive in the first place. Once the problem is solved, the child won't become physically aggressive in response to it anymore. And if you're only defusing, de-escalating, and keeping everyone safe, the problem won't get solved.

Curious about which interventions actually work? Our new resource can help! We’ve added a section to our website featuring fact sheets that break down the evidence behind various treatment models and how they compare to the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model. We're on a mission to clear things up and uplift truly evidence-based treatment models. Our latest fact sheets explore significant and key differences between the CPS model and other approaches, such as the "Collaborative Problem Solving" product from Think:Kids and "Reframing Behavior" program from the Crisis Prevention Institute and the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint.
