While many believe the HIV epidemic is over, the reality is different: an estimated 28,000 Houstonians live with HIV, and 7-12 Texans are newly diagnosed every day. At Legacy, HIV care is part of our foundation. Created in 1978 to fight a then-unknown disease, we remain one of Houston's most trusted sources for prevention, testing, and care. Legacy's Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services Neha Agrawal recently joined KPRC’s Haley Hernandez to discuss the growing popularity of a subset of retail pharmacies known as compound pharmacie. The key to their assess is their ability to produce their own versions of GLP-1 weight loss medications—and what patients should consider before choosing these alternatives. At Legacy, the majority of our patients—and many of our colleagues—are Hispanic, reflecting the diversity of the communities we are committed to serving. We are especially proud to have a seat on the Mayor's Hispanic Council. Our committee member and VP for Major Gifts and Planned Giving, Tim Martinez, recently co-chaired the Hispanic Heritage Awards. Presenting the proclamation are Assistant Director Marlene McNeese and Program Manager Nathan Maxey of the Houston Health Department, alongside representatives from Legacy including Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer Robert Palussek, VP of Major Gifts and Planned Giving Tim Martinez, VP of Marketing Jess Ferdinand, and Marketing Manager Ivan Bocanegra.
