🏠 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻! 🍬✨ At Laland Baptiste, we're thrilled to roll up our sleeves with the talented students from the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY for a sweet and creative challenge—constructing gingerbread houses! But this is more than just a holiday activity; it's a celebration of the art and science behind Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. Each team of students was tasked with recreating classic architectural styles like Carpenter Gothic, Greek Revival, Pueblo, and Urban Brownstone — all using gingerbread and candies. Through this fun and festive challenge, students gained hands-on experience in: 🔨 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀 📐 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 🏗️ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 By blending history, design, and construction into a holiday-themed project, we aim to inspire the next generation of industry leaders. #civilengineer #mwbe #LalandBaptiste #ACEmentor #mentoringmatters

Last month, Laland Baptiste’s CEO, Schillivia Baptiste, P.E., Assoc. DBIA, attended the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York (ACEC of New York) Fall Conference in Cooperstown. Conference panels and sessions touched on facilitating partnerships with Disadvantaged Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (DM/WBEs), discussing the future of NYS capital projects, the design-build process, and challenges with lot-line construction in densely populated areas. The conference included a DM/WBE showcase designed to connect larger engineering firms with smaller DMWBE firms to create partnership and business opportunities. “The ACEC New York Fall Conference was interesting and informative, and I was glad to be able to see so many of my industry colleagues,” said Schillivia Baptiste, CEO of Laland Baptiste. “I was pleased to see sessions geared toward lifting up DMWBEs and connecting them with more seasoned companies. It’s important that we ensure that MWSBEs and DMWBEs are equipped to thrive in New York City and throughout New York State.” In the photo, Schillivia is pictured with Bill Murray (ACEC), Johnny Evers (ACEC), Xiaohu Fan (Gannett Fleming), Chris Sklavounakis (HDR), Taylor N.
