    Chief Product Officer - KorTerra

Over the holidays, I had the privilege of riding along with our field technicians using KorTerra, Inc.. Despite the cold, wet, and miserable weather, the insights and conversations were invaluable. As Chief Product Officer, I believe it’s essential to get out of the office, kick up a little dirt (ok, mud), and see firsthand how our tools are used. I genuinely enjoy these opportunities—they keep me connected to the realities of the field and the heart of this industry. I’m excited about the new functionality we’re rolling out in 2025, designed to support the incredible professionals in the 811 industry. We see you, we respect you, and we’re committed to your success.

Are the bulk of problems in our industry caused by the "Players" or the "System?" Utility companies will tell you that the negligent contractors and locators are the problem, and contractors will say that the 811 system in which the utility companies control is causing them problems. As Dave Mulcahey says, in a black and white argument the answer is almost always gray, but why are we still pointing fingers at each other instead of working together for a common ground? Thomas Hall has a good point- "What happens after this conversation is over?" There needs to be an action plan. Our contribution to damage prevention is by bringing education and awareness about topics like this, and we thank our panelists for another great Roundtable conversation.
