It was a business idea with a simple model that was easy for a young, inexperienced guy to want to be a part of. 26 years later, I still serve community residents, and the greatest joy is a part of the business that I couldn't comprehend at that age. The residents we serve are my favorite aspect of the business. The resident is not a rent payment. They are not the to-do list. I am sorry if my mother is reading this, but caring for a nonrelative is much easier and more fun than caring for your loved one. The life stories I have heard, the wisdom that has been shared, and the ways that these residents have changed me are spectacular. If you are in the industry, you must watch this new comedy on Netflix. It is a wonderful example of senior living and all our communities' personalities.
