Soccer is arguably the hardest sport to build micro markets for because of the continuous and dynamic nature of the sport and according to prior skeptics it was impossible to do well. For over 18 months, the Kero Sports team has worked tirelessly to build a soccer product that isn't just engaging but also profitable.
If you've followed our recent announcements, major launches with incredible partners around the world took place just in time for the Euros. Thus, the first week of the tournament was an exciting time but also one of a real test for our soccer quant pricing and trading teams.
Here are some interesting stats from what we saw so far:
- 10.11% Hold powering dynamic micro markets in over 140 different brands worldwide
- Based on partner feedback, Kero accounted for 5% of in-play handle and growing fast!
- Most bet on games were;
--- GER vs HUN (12.1% Hold)
--- SLO vs SRB (4.7% Hold)
--- SCO vs SUI (1.8% Hold)
- Top Performing match by hold was ESP vs ITA (30.6%) and the worst was TUR vs GEO (-6.5%)
- Honorable mention goes to ROU vs UKR which had the highest bets per user per game at 6.33 bets (12.8% Hold)
- Given how much attacking action there has been, one of the most popular markets was whether a team will have a shot on target, which our algorithms would serve after a team hasn't recorded any SoTs in a prolonged period (9.9% Hold)
These numbers are a testament to all the work (and rework) that the team has done and is something I couldn't be more proud of!
