This year through our mobile services and outreach efforts, the Library delivered materials and other resources directly to nursing homes, early childhood centers, and other locations! That includes more than 72,936 books delivered through Books to Go, which serves preschools, home child cares, and Kindergarten sites. See our full annual report and donate to support the Library's work in the community at kclibrary.org

Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year Childrens Book Council and Every Child a Reader work with a different illustrator to create a poster. The Kansas City Public Library has one of the most complete collections of these posters. See highlights from the collection at our Plaza Branch.
