In his 2012 book So Good They Can’t Ignore You, Cal Newport compares two mindsets towards finding work that you love. The first, one he uses the book to demonstrate is ineffective, even dangerous, is called the passion mindset. The passion mindset is...

Need someone to figure out all the AI tools you’ve been avoiding? A #Learner will have ChatGPT, MidJourney, and God-knows-what-else figured out by lunch...not because they have to, but because they think it’s fun. Learners don’t just collect knowledge; they thrive on understanding it, breaking things down, and using those insights as a foundation for progress. #Learners live in the Strategic Thinking domain, meaning they fuel growth by exploring new ways to tackle challenges (without getting lost in 27 open tabs of distractions...where is that music coming from?). This mindset thrives in dynamic environments where the goal is progress, not perfection. Here’s how to lead with #Learner tomorrow: 📚 Break it down before you build: Take the top two challenges on your list and ask, “Why are these done this way? What’s their purpose?” Unpack assumptions to start evolving your understanding. 🔍 Analyze and experiment: Once you’ve broken them down, ask, “How does this work?" And, "could this part be simpler, faster, or stronger?” Test ideas and adapt as you go. 🛠 Rebuild smarter: Reassemble with intention. Whether it’s a process or project, you could create a better version that leaves people asking, “Why didn’t we always do it this way?” Or, "I never thought about it that way." 🗣 Share your insights: Explain why the new approach works. Teaching solidifies your learning and benefits your team. On a more personal note: 🔑 Learners aren’t just problem solvers—we’re integrators. We break things down, reassemble them with new understanding, and help our teams use it to see what’s next on the horizon. For us, it’s not about badges or certifications—it’s about chasing what’s just around the bend and enabling progress. Do you have the #Learner strength? Or does this sound like you? Let me know in the comments—what’s the hardest part about putting this strength into action? #LifelongLearning #GrowthMindset #StrengthsBasedLeadership #InnovateAndExecute #BreakItDownBuildItBetter #CliftonStrengths

You want me to start from scratch? Meh. You want me to take what you’ve started and make it incredible? Now we’re talking. Maximizers don’t just create...we elevate. #Maximizer lives in the Executing domain, but it’s not about putting in more effort—it’s about directing your effort toward something with untapped potential, picking up where others left off, and bringing it to fruition. Taking something strong and turning it into something superb? That’s where the thrill is. Here’s how to lead with Maximizer tomorrow: ✅ Double down on strengths: You’re like a diver searching for pearls, looking for the telltale signs of a powerful idea—whether in yourself, others, or a project—that you feel compelled to nurture toward brilliance. 🎯 Focus your energy on projects that align with your natural talents and where someone else is asking for help to bring their idea or work across the finish line. These are the pearls you’re searching for...the opportunities where your unique abilities can turn good into extraordinary. 🔍 Polish to perfection: Refining is your superpower. Whether it’s a report, a process, or a person’s potential, you are fueled by making something already great shine even brighter. Remember, the energy you pour into elevating strengths is demanding, but it yields unparalleled results. 🔑 Maximizers transform good into great. You’re not here to make things average; you’re here to make them outstanding. Whether you’re fine-tuning a project, mentoring a teammate, or optimizing a process, your focus on excellence drives results that stand out and inspire others to do the same. On a more personal note: 💡 Look around your job, family, or community for projects that are underway but perhaps have stalled. The ones waiting for someone to take ownership and make them shine. They are your invitation to transform potential into excellence. Do you have the #Maximizer theme in your mix of talents? Even if you've never taken the assessment, does this sound like you? Let me know in the chat what you LOVE, what might FRUSTRATE you, or what you APPRECIATE about this strength! #MaximizePotential #ExcellenceInAction #StrengthsBasedLeadership #ValueCreation #ContinuousImprovement #CliftonStrengths

Discipline is the reason your life isn’t falling apart (you’re welcome) The CliftonStrengths assessment description of "Discipline": People exceptionally talented in the Discipline theme enjoy routine and structure. Their world is best described by the order they create. I just might be the human version of a labeled storage bin. Is it thrilling? No. Is it essential? Also no unless you enjoy functioning like a hot mess, in which case, I’ll just be over here clutching my planner like a security blanket. Discipline is one of the best things about me (when I coach, I always clarify that there's no envy allowed towards people with strengths different than you... so all of you creatures that thrive in chaos, try to stay calm) While you’re out there “winging it” and living your “best spontaneous life,” I’m running a tight ship of strict bedtimes, to-do lists, and back-up plans for my backup plans. You’re welcome for being the person who remembers the details, the directions, and that the thing starts at 7:00 PM sharp. I’m not just good at keeping things on track—I’m offensively good. You’ll never catch me double-booking, forgetting a deadline, or “just seeing how it goes.” How I might make you roll your eyes harder than a CrossFit bro talking about protein powder: When you’re saying “Let’s just see what happens,” I’m saying “Let’s map out all possible outcomes and create an action plan.” If you show up 5 minutes late, I’ve already mentally restructured the day (while judging you) and may or may not passive-aggressively remind you about “time management.” What you’re secretly grateful for (but won’t admit): If there’s an emergency, don’t worry, I’ve got a full itinerary of options to survive the apocalypse (thank you Dave Ramsey). Need structure? I’ll make it. Need order? I am it. Need vibes? That’s cute... but no, I can’t help you with that. Why you love me (even if you pretend not to): I’m the reason things run smoothly. Sure, you roll your eyes when I insist at a departure time for a weekend trip, but who are you texting for lunch ideas when you're ready for that pit stop? That’s right... it's me, because I’ve already mentally outlined the perfect spot, and it all hinges on the timeliness of getting started. You’re probably thinking, “I could never be that organized.” You’re right. But that’s okay! The CliftonStrengths tool helps us understand that some of us thrive in with a spontaneous approach (yikes) while others are the creators of order (me). Tag the Discipline-lover in your life—or the chaos gremlin who desperately needs one! And if you’re curious about where you fall on the “Hot Mess to Spreadsheet God” spectrum, drop a comment below. I’ll fit you into my perfectly planned day... probably between a scheduled workout and reorganizing my office. 😉 #OrganizedLife #PlannerAddict #RoutineWins #GoodThursday #Cliftonstrengths #KaleoCoaching #Discipline #DisciplineEqualsFreedom

👊 Blame doesn’t fix problems. Shame doesn’t build trust. Real leaders focus on one thing: What can we do now? When you lead with #Adaptability, you don’t dwell on what went wrong—you inspire resilience and action. Adaptability sits in the Relationship Building domain, which means your strength isn’t just for you—it’s for the people around you. When change hits, people need someone they can trust. (Because let’s be honest: not everyone keeps calm when the Wi-Fi drops in a Zoom meeting.) Here’s how to lead with Adaptability: 🤝 Be the calm in the chaos: When change imposes itself, say, “Here’s what just happened. Here’s what we’re going to do next.” I know it seems obvious to you if Adaptability is one of your top natural talents, but for a lot of people, it's not the most natural way to respond to change. People rally around steady leaders. (Bonus points if you also have snacks or coffee.) 🔄 Pivot with purpose: Ask, “What’s the most critical action we can take right now to keep momentum?” Your adaptability isn’t passive—it’s decisive. (Think: less “shrug emoji,” more “let’s do this.”) 🌱 Reassure and refocus your team: Acknowledge the change, validate concerns, and help others see opportunities, not just obstacles. (Remember: “This could be worse” is not a pep talk.) 🔑 Adaptability builds trust. When you adjust with intention while keeping the focus on the task at hand (and not on blame), you help others feel safe, seen, and ready to keep moving forward. (And maybe even laugh about it later.) On a more personal note: 🔑 True Adaptability never looks for blame—it looks for opportunity. By focusing entirely on “What can we do now?” and “What’s the most powerful action we can take?” you give everyone permission to change and move forward. There is no energy spent trying to assign blame. There is no shame-based response to the change in circumstances. There is only permission to move forward with purpose. This mindset is the foundation of resilience: adapting with purpose, especially in the face of failure. Do you have the #Adaptability theme in your mix of talents? Even if you've never taken the assessment, does this sound like you? Let me know in the chat how you APPLY it or what you most APPRECIATE about this strength! #Adaptability #Resilience #LeadershipInAction #EmbraceChange #ThrivingInChaos #CliftonStrengths
