  • More than 2,600 pounds of food and personal care items - all donated by Buffalo General Medical Center /Gates Vascular Institute (BGMC/GVI) caregivers and staff - are on their way to hurricane-ravaged North Carolina. A portion of the haul was flown there yesterday by BGMC's medical director of urology, Dr. Brian Rambarran, a pilot who’s typically saving rescue dogs from kill shelters across the country. “There are still people with great need in that region, and we’re so grateful to Dr. Rambarran and our entire staff for stepping up,” said BGMC/GVI President Beth Hughes. “It feels especially meaningful this Thanksgiving weekend.” #Thanksgiving #KaleidaHealth #HurricaneRelief

A former Buffalo Bill is once again victorious. 87-year-old Wray Carlton, a pivotal fullback in the team’s historic AFL championship wins in 1964 and 1965, is back on his feet after a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute. The procedure - a minimally invasive alternative to open heart surgery - is giving him the energy to stay active and engaged with his loving family. It also happened to be BGMC’s milestone 4000th TAVR procedure, solidifying the hospital’s position as the leading center for TAVR in Western New York… and one of the top hospitals in the U.S. for the advanced procedure. #TAVR #BuffaloGeneralMedicalCenter #BuffaloBills #GatesVascularInstitute
