We are proud to have contributed to the design of the NorthWest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green, OH, a facility dedicated to providing an alternative sentencing option for adults convicted of felony offenses. The design of the 32-bed female unit focused on evidence-based strategies that promote healthier decision-making, with spaces that support emotional regulation, therapy, and privacy. We proudly support the ACE Mentor Program by volunteering at New Tech West High School. K2Mrs Liv, Emily, and Natalie, along with partners from Regency Construction and OHM Advisors, recently facilitated engaging sessions on architecture, construction, and water engineering. Students had the opportunity to design floor plans and explore lot placement, participate in a construction estimating activity using Legos, and tour the Cleveland Foundation construction site. In recent weeks, Vaughan attended the Fire Fusion conference to talk future technologies in the fire service industry and their impact on operations and design. As a leading station design team we are continually sharpening our skills and establishing the trends that evolve fire station design nationally. With technology changing so rapidly, collaborating with experts like Kevin Nida and the FirstNet team is invaluable. Today marks a significant milestone in our partnership with Lake County as we break ground on a new, 250,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Public Safety Center. Since 2012, K2M Design has collaborated with justice stakeholders to shape this project, addressing the evolving needs of public safety, enhancing staff work environments, and focusing on mental health and wellness to help those in custody lead productive lives post-incarceration. We're excited to showcase the latest YouTube video from our partner, Weigand Construction, featuring drone footage of the Nappanee Fire Station rising from the ground! As you can see, Nappanee’s Fire Station #1 is situated on a cozy two-acre site, adjacent to a commercial retail property to the south, a church to the north, and single-family residential properties to the east. With these site constraints in mind, great care was taken in the building placement and site design to ensure operationally efficient circulation, while also being a good neighbor to the surrounding properties. As the project develops, we’ll highlight innovative features of this state-of-the-art station.
