IATI is a global initiative to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources and their results.
About us
IATI is a global initiative working to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources and their results to address poverty and crises. IATI encourages governments and organisations to publish information about their spending and projects according to IATI's open data standard. The IATI Standard is a set of rules and guidance for publishing useful development and humanitarian data. Once published, this data is free and open for anyone to access online. Thousands of organisations have published IATI data on the spending of their development or humanitarian activities. They include donor governments, multilateral agencies, development finance institutions, foundations, NGOs and private sector organisations. IATI is funded and governed by its members and a member-elected Governing Board, and it is supported by a global community of development and humanitarian practitioners, advocates for transparency, data experts and technical specialists. IATI’s Secretariat is hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), which is responsible for policy and technology services, with Open Data Services as the Secretariat's technology delivery partner and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as the provider of operational and financial services.

🔎 A look back, while we plan forward. As IATI enters the final year of its current strategic plan, the results monitoring reports are a key tool for reflecting on past achievements and challenges, helping to shape our strategy for 2026-2030. In 2025, we’ll continue to consider the global development landscape and technological changes that impact our work in our strategic consultation. IATI’s Strategic Plan Results Monitoring Report for 2023 showed that: ✅ 19 partner country governments systematically used IATI data ✅ Data quality continued to improve, with almost half of large scale publishers making improvements in timeliness and comprehensiveness ✅ Tools like d-preview and the IATI Datastore saw increased engagement and high satisfaction rates Read the report 👇 https://lnkd.in/eFkUpNK9

👏 Excellent representation today from #IATI Executive Director Yemesrach Workie at the United Nations Financing for Development (#FfD4) 2nd PrepCom! 🌏
🌍 Today, I had the honor of speaking on behalf of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) at the Second Preparatory Committee Session for FfD4. I emphasized the critical need for transparency in official development aid within the international development cooperation framework. Accurate information and evidence are essential for building trust and ensuring effective development cooperation. I shared that since its launch in 2008 at the Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra, Ghana, IATI has grown into a robust initiative with over 107 members, capturing trillions of dollars in development aid spending. This data, updated regularly by over 1700 publishers, is crucial for national budgets, development cooperation reports, and effective coordination. I called for a stronger commitment to transparency and mutual accountability in the FfD4 Outcome Document, advocating for the use of existing transparency frameworks and open data standards like IATI. The next generation of international cooperation should be underpinned by quality data and evidence. Let’s continue to leverage IATI data for a more transparent and effective development cooperation process. 🌐📊 #IATI #Transparency #DevelopmentCooperation #FfD4 #UNDP
