We're excited to see that Robert De Niro just opened Wildflower Studios in Queens, where our Indigo River team worked with the client and design consultants to develop a comprehensive Flood Resiliency Strategy that included both permanent and temporary flood mitigation solutions. Last Friday, our Indigo River team member Alix Pauchet volunteered with Billion Oyster Project at their field station on Governor's Island. She assisted in sorting and cleaning oyster shells collected from local restaurants. These shells will be distributed to designated restoration sites in New York Harbor, forming the foundation of new oyster reefs. These reefs will provide habitat for spat to attach and grow. Broken shells and pieces will be recycled and used as aggregate in oyster reef balls. A wonderful opportunity to contribute to an important environmental initiative and support the restoration of New York Harbor. “Certainly the importance and the emphasis of why this work is important and how vulnerable we really are began to resonate at that time if not earlier.” In an episode of EntreArchitect™, Host Mark R. Our Founder and CEO Dena Prastos, AIA Prastos talked with Civil + Structural Engineer Media Magazine about Indigo River’s ability to use a “multi-prong approach” when developing flood mitigation and climate adaptation recommendations. “Taking a holistic approach to these concepts, Indigo River works with local stakeholders to identify the most appropriate and sustainable. The team has demonstrated this approach on projects like Wildflower Studios, where they worked with the client and design consultants to develop a comprehensive Flood Resiliency Strategy that included both permanent and temporary flood mitigation solutions. According to Dean Prastos, the plan for the Wildflowers Studios project featured the construction of wet and dry floodproof spaces, as well as the creation of Flood Emergency Action and Response plans for the Operations team.” Link to read the full article by Luke Carothers: https://lnkd.in/dJQYSGmM #IndigoRiver #WildflowerStudios #Resilency #Architecture #Engineering
