Winter holidays often center on light—candles, tree lights, and sparkling decorations all symbolize hope and brightness in the darkest days. On a personal level, light can also boost #mentalhealth, especially in winter months when depression rates tend to rise. The darker days of winter all add to the seasons' pressures and many people describe feeling emotionally and physically drained this time of year. If that resonates with you, know you’re not alone. 🌞 Get outside and soak up natural light whenever possible. 🕯️ Light a candle, curl up with a good book, and create a cozy, calming atmosphere indoors. These small, intentional actions can help ground you and bring peace amid the chaos. How do you find light during the winter season?

All the recent talk of telehealth's post-pandemic decline misses an important point: The people who have embraced #VirtualCare really depend on it. That's the key takeaway of our new study in collaboration with the Urban Institute. Compared to people who had one-off virtual visits for things like sinus infections, frequent telehealth users were significantly more likely to have chronic or complex conditions, usually with #MentalHealth needs in the mix. In fact, for these high-need (and high-cost) patients, virtual care was the main source of #PrimaryCare and #BehavioralHealth support. ⌛ With many Covid-era telehealth policies set to expire at the end of the year, it's critical we not lose sight of this population. For some people, virtual care is a once-in-a-while convenience, and that's OK. For others it's a lifeline that should be extended and strengthened, not taken away. As the holiday season unfolds, many of us feel a mix of joy and pressure. Instead of getting sucked into the commercial demands of the season, recenter and focus on living by your values. This approach, rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, encourages us to align our actions with what matters most to us. Here’s a simple way to start: ✨ Reflect on your core values (e.g., connection, kindness, growth). ✨ Write them down and share them with loved ones to create meaningful conversations and align priorities. ✨ Use your values as a guide to shape how you spend your time and energy this season. This practice not only helps navigate the season with intention but may also strengthen relationships. It might even become a cherished holiday tradition for you and your loved ones. What values are you focusing on this holiday season?

Navigation — helping people understand their benefits, finding high-quality doctors, and (much) more — is the connective tissue that enables great healthcare experiences and outcomes, and that's especially true for the LGBTQ+ community, which faces disproportionate access barriers and health disparities. For companies like Included Health, understanding which navigation services LGBTQ+ people need and use most is critical to addressing those disparities and filling gaps in care. The need is significant — that was the main takeaway from our recent study at #APHA2024 with the Rutgers School of Public Health's Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies. More than 40% of LGBTQ+ people who tapped into digital navigation services needed help finding high-quality #PrimaryCare. Nearly 30% needed mental health support. And 20% needed access to #SpecialtyCare. The need was also everywhere — the study included LGBTQ+ people from all 50 states, of every race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. This is an indication of the work yet to be done, as well as an important reminder that nothing prevents us from connecting people with world-class care, whoever and wherever they are. The holiday season can be magical, but it can also feel overwhelming. Social obligations, family commitments, the mental load of the "perfect" holiday - they can all drain us. If you’re feeling the weight of it all, you’re not alone. This time of year offers something special we often overlook: an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and reset. 🌟 One way Dana Udall, Ph.D. makes time for stillness is through meditation. She recommends an easy way to get started: Try a practice called “leaves on a stream” which can help you let go of stressful thoughts. Imagine placing your worries on leaves and watching them float away. Take time for stillness. Find your own moments of peace. You deserve it. 💙

Originally designed to combat diabetes and obesity, #GLP1 research is being done to explore its potential in various other diseases. However, this revelation is shining a light on the glaring issues of our healthcare system. As #IncludedHealth CEO, Owen Tripp, states, while GLP1s can potentially revolutionize the treatment approach for chronic diseases, they can also create collateral with things like immense strain on the healthcare ecosystem, disparity in access and fragmentation of #patientcare.
