Declining to take part in public life, such as democraticgovernment of the polis (city state), was considered dishonorable. "Idiots" were seen as having bad judgment in public and political matters. Those who ARE engaged in the "public life" and not "individuals with overall bad judgment - individuals who are "stupid". So what defines stupid? Well, for our purposes it is someone who is "willfully ignorant". In other words, someone who is in a position to know better, but for whatever reasons, refuses to. Here we understand what a "fact" is. We recognize the need for "evidence" to back up opinion. We encourage and will always try to use "reason and logic". What you will not find here; a space where "intelligent design/creationism/young earth theory" is tolerated as a valid position. There is no "controversy" and we refuse to give time to a position that if left unchecked is then used to attack evolution and from there all science, including man made global climate change.
