OOH TODAY shares the VideoElephant "State of Video" study conducted with Hub Entertainment Research with a focus on - you guessed it - #dooh 🔥 Digital Out of Home (DOOH) is hot this season and according to a new report from VideoElephant conducted by Hub Entertainment Research, video is a key driver of DOOH's appeal. And that doesn’t mean just video ads. 👀 Says VideoElephant Chief Commercial Officer Brian Cullinane, “Relevant video content has been shown to enhance the effectiveness of advertising, especially in out of home venues, where distractions are everywhere and relevant news, information and entertainment content serves to keep people engaged.” 🎯 To that point, those surveyed agreed that relevance is important: 62% reported that they’re much more likely to watch video that’s relevant to their viewing location AND almost half agreed that relevant video improves their overall experience at that location. #video #content #olv #dooh

More than you might think—especially when it comes to political leanings. 🇺🇸 Hub's latest study, conducted with the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), revealed surprising insights about how political attitudes influence TV preferences. As election chatter dominates, these findings couldn’t be timelier. Here are 5 key takeaways from our research: -A Nation Divided, Even on TV: The country’s political split is mirrored in TV preferences. 30% of viewers identify as conservative, 29% as liberal, and 41% as moderate. -Timeless Favorites Transcend Politics: Long-running shows like Friends and NCIS remain cultural staples, appealing across political lines. These series rely on universal themes like friendship, loyalty, and justice—timeless qualities that resonate with viewers regardless of their ideology. -Shared Favorites Exist: Yes, Friends, Fallout, NCIS, and Suits appeal equally to liberals and conservatives—thanks to strong characters and compelling relationships. -Political Content Skews Liberal: No surprise here: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and #SNL resonate more with liberals. But shows with diverse casts like #AbbottElementary and #Bridgerton also align more with left-leaning audiences. -“Red State Void” Confirmed: Yellowstone’s appeal to conservatives isn’t just about cowboys and Montana landscapes. It’s the strong family drama and relatable characters that seal the deal. 🤔 Why It Matters: 8 of the 12 shows we tested revealed partisan like-ability skews. The explosion of content from Netflix, Disney+ and other streamers has resulted in more TV shows than any human can possibly watch. And while the glut of content created something for everyone, the era of peak TV is over, with contraction in Hollywood bringing several shows to an end — many after just one season. Single-season streaming cancellations in 2024 have included the surprise axing of The Walt Disney Company's #StarWars series #TheAcolyte — a show whose premiere performed well according to Disney+’s own metrics — and Netflix series such as #TheBrothersSun, #Obliterated and #DeadBoyDetectives, which once reigned in the streamer’s Top 10 lists and top 100 most-watched TV titles for the first half of 2024. At least 19 streaming shows were canceled in 2024 after one season, after at least 25 were canceled in 2023.
