At HAWC, we provide refuge for survivors fleeing domestic and sexual violence. This year so far, we’ve provided safe shelter for 761 survivors and their families. 💜 “I knew I had to find some place to go. If HAWC hadn’t given me this safe space to leave, I don't know what would have happened.” - Angela, Survivor Invest in survivors like Tasha and Angela. 🔗 www.hawc.org/donate #EndDV #SupportSurvivors #PublicHealthCrisis #HAWC #Giving #Donate #SurvivorsSpeak #GivingTuesday #HoustonWeHaveAProblem #EndViolence #SurvivorsSpeak

Thank you, Lydia Hance and Frame Dance for bringing joy and the gift of art through dance to the children who reside at HAWC! Together, we are empowering survivors. 💜
Artistic and Executive Director Frame Dance | Change-Maker | Dance Educator | Choreographer | Dancer | Filmmaker & Chief Curator of Frame x Frame Film Fest |
"Since 2009, Frame Dance has volunteered its Summer Dance program to the Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC) through our Children & Youth Services program. At HAWC, almost 60% of our clients are child survivors of, or witnesses to, family violence. Each summer for the past 15 years, Frame Dance has given countless children the opportunity to dance, have fun, and express themselves through the art of dance. We are grateful for Frame Dance’s investment of time and the joy they bring to each child who participates in their program." - Emilee Whitehurst, President & CEO of Houston Area Women's Center One of the things I'm most proud of is the work we do at this incredible organization. Each of our classes combines movement and dance with a meaningful art project, and you can see some of the beautiful creations made by the children at HAWC in the image below. I'm excited to share that today, we're taking it one step further by developing a trauma-informed curriculum for dance and art classes that can be implemented in other organizations, extending this vital work far beyond HAWC. On this Giving Tuesday, I hope you'll consider contributing to this program. Your support means the world to me, and to all of those who find hope though the arts.
