From all of us at HOPE International, Happy New Year! We’re praying the Lord orders your steps this year as you trust in Him.☀️ “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 What do you feel the Lord calling you to focus on this year? We’d love to know! Pictured: Malawi

We invest in the dreams of families in the world's underserved communities as we proclaim and live the Gospel.
About us
Based in Lancaster, PA, HOPE International (HOPE) is a Christian faith-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization investing in the dreams of families in the world's underserved communities as we proclaim and live the Gospel. Why Christ-centered financial services? We believe families in poverty have the God-given talents and skills to provide for their families. What they don’t have is a lump sum of money to invest in their potential—by paying school fees, saving for the future, or investing in businesses. Two billion people around the world do not have access to financial services. 91 percent of adults in high-income countries have an account compared to just 28 percent in low-income countries. We desire to see men and women around the world find their soul’s satisfaction in Christ and become dignified, hope-filled providers in their families and communities. In obedience to Christ’s command to love our neighbor and make disciples of all nations, HOPE International provides discipleship opportunities, biblically based training, a safe place to save, and loans. We offer these services through two models: 1. Savings groups are groups of individuals who save their money together in partnership with the local church. As they build a secure sum of money, members often take out loans from their group to pay for household expenses or invest in businesses. 2. Microfinance institutions are banks designed to serve entrepreneurs in poverty by providing loans, a safe place to save, and other financial services to help men and women invest in their businesses and provide for their families. We have a heart for underserved areas. In some cases, we start a HOPE-managed program; in others, we partner with an existing Christ-centered ministry. Together, the HOPE network consists of microfinance institutions and savings group programs working throughout Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. www.hopeinternational.org

"If you look closely in one of Peter Greer’s early books, there’s a picture of me and my sister. ... When we snapped that photo at our church’s Christmas market, I didn’t know much about what HOPE International did. Little did I know that following my sophomore year at Wheaton college, I’d be interning with HOPE, helping Peter write more books!" In our newest blog post, 2024 executive writing intern Savannah Jeffery shares some of the lessons she's learned from her HOPE internship.☀ Read her reflections at https://hopeint.cc/3Pe503e!

Merry Christmas! This Christmas, we pray you enjoy the warmth of family and friends as you celebrate Jesus’ birth. May you feel the nearness of Emmanuel and experience the joy and peace that only He can offer.🌟 “'The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel' (which means 'God with us')." “I’ve traveled and seen poverty before, but being with my children changed how I related to those I met,” says Alisa Hoober, one of our amazing board members. Alisa has spent time with underserved communities worldwide. But on a trip to Zambia this spring, meeting a savings group through her 3-year-old daughter’s eyes showed her something she’d never realized before.☀️ Read Alisa’s reflection on our blog: https://hopeint.cc/41qt8qx

God is doing a new thing! Check out this exciting snapshot of the progress we're seeing through regenerative agriculture initiatives across many African countries in the HOPE network.🌱
A few weeks ago, we had the chance to gather in Rwanda with all the team members that support the work that HOPE International is doing through regenerative agriculture. Less than five years ago, HOPE did not have a single staff member involved with agriculture and today, we have over 25 staff members around the network either partially or fully supporting the work we're doing to help farmers thrive through affirming their dignity as valuable members of society and their communities, producing enough healthy food for themselves and their families, and caring for creation. What's really exciting is that these trainings are not done in isolation. HOPE supports these farmers through their savings groups and their local churches, which have typically been meeting for several years already. The trust and capital that they have through these groups gives them the resources they need to invest in their farms, families, and businesses, without the intervention of HOPE. Our formula is fairly simple: We train on regenerative farming methods and fund demonstrations of the models and develop farmer field schools for the farmers to try it themselves, then they decide if the methods work better than their conventional approaches to farming, and whether or not they should invest in them. The approach equips the farmers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions, and the impact we’re seeing shows that the lasting effects are significant for both farmers and their communities. We’re seeing that farmers who have received the training and are members of savings group are saving more money, have higher yields and better quality crops, and, are restoring the quality of their soil. Most importantly, these farmers are experiencing transformed mindsets and express that they feel called to be farmers and even if they had the choice, they wouldn’t take another job. We’re rooting for these small-holder farmers and can’t wait to invest in them for years to come! (It helps when you get to do this work with an all-star team like this)

When Mery Quintero and her son moved to join her husband in Peru, starting over—and creating income—wasn't easy. But with her savings group, Mery gradually saved enough to buy a stovetop for her cake business, products for her salon, and fabric to start sewing polo shirts! Now, with stable income, the Quinteros save for the future. “Before, we lived life day-to-day, and there was no goal,” Mery says. “We no longer feel like slaves to money. … Money is a tool for us. And best of all, we can budget, set goals, and be able to achieve those goals.” Praise God for His work in Mery and her family’s life!☀️
