About us
The Hoboken Shelter’s mission is to be a community partnership that transforms lives by providing meals for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, & services to support people to become housed. We shelter 50 people nightly, serve 500 meals daily, host 1,000 showers weekly, and provide such support services as food, shelter, case management, counseling, job and life skills training, creative arts workshops, emergency homelessness prevention grants, & permanent supportive housing solutions. These services help our homeless guests develop the skills needed to gain employment, achieve independence, and re-integrate into the community. Our ultimate goal is to end homelessness one person at a time!

Post-COVID-19, traditional salt and pepper shakers are difficult to keep clean (and full!). Please help our Guests enjoy the Shelter’s food by donating salt and pepper packets! Did you know? The Shelter does 130+ loads of laundry each week. From kitchen aprons to Shelter Guests’ linens to our Guests’ clothing, our machines are always running! Powdered detergent is the best version of laundry soap for the Shelter’s operations -- easy to measure, and a little goes a long way! The Shelter’s kitchen garbage system is a bit larger than the average kitchen’s! At 500 meals every day, we do produce some serious trash. Help us keep the Shelter tidy by donating 33-gallon trash-can liner bags and larger blue recycling bags.
