Hiram Davis Medical Center celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a heartwarming event honoring our staff, patient, and residents survivors! Breast Cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow and multiply abnormally. This can happen if the genes in a cell that control cell growth no longer work properly. As a result, the cell divides uncontrollably and may form a tumor. You may be able to feel it as a lump under the skin, or you may not realize it's there at all until it's found on an imaging test, such as a mammogram (x-ray). We had a wonderful time coming together as a facility, sharing valuable information and inspirational testimonies. The event included a special cake-cutting ceremony and a festive photo booth to capture memories. It was a day filled with hope, support, and celebration of the strength within our HDMC family.

It's time for our annual Open Enrollment period again! From May 1st to May 15th, 2024, staff members can review and choose their health plans and/or flexible spending account (FSA) elections. During this period, staff can make changes to their health plan, add or remove dependents, or even opt out of state health coverage. To mark the start of this crucial period, we're excited to host our annual Benefits Fair this Friday, May 3rd, 2024, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. This event will provide staff with all the necessary information to make informed decisions about their benefits. We're pleased to have several partners at our Benefits Fair, including representatives from Aflac, Anthem, CommonHealth, Virginia Credit Union, and many others. They will be on hand to answer your questions, offer professional advice, and help navigate through the options.
