Bay Area Legal Services hosted its annual Champions for Justice Donor Appreciation Event this week at The Tampa Club. Hill Ward Henderson was presented with The Richard C. Woltmann Group Advocacy Award which honors a philanthropic organization that has profoundly supported the mission of Bay Area Legal Services as a key piece of its community impact through the years. Named after Dick Woltmann who served as the organization's President & CEO for over 40 years, this award recognizes the recipient's enduring charitable commitment to providing justice for those in need within our community. Woltmann Award recipients have not only made significant financial contributions toward the mission, but have incorporated "access to justice" into their company culture. The award celebrates the meaningful strides that Bay Area Legal has made thanks to this significant partner in justice. Ben H. Hill III accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

Shareholder Scott McLaren was honored by the federal judiciary as the first recipient of “The Honorable Thomas B. McCoun III Champion of Justice Award” in recognition of his pro bono service. Scott has served more than nine years as Pro Bono Chair for the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He was presented the award at a luncheon on November 13, 2024 by the judges of the Middle District of Florida.
