  • Security officers from our hospitals raised an amazing $5,000 for this year's Jingle Jangle shop with a cop program in Dearborn. Last weekend, 35 of our pediatric patients joined our officers at Walmart to holiday shop for their families! 🎁 Thank you to our Security Department for giving back to our community and making this holiday season extra special for our community.

Our surgical intensive care unit nurse ANASTASIA VASILEVSKI used her artistic talents to brighten up several patient rooms for the holiday season at Henry Ford Hospital. "Having a creative outlet is something that I always crave," shared Anastasia. "Having my work place to embrace it and give the creative freedom is inspiring and so needed." 💙🎨  If you're interested in joining our nursing team, email IAmHenryTalent@hfhs.org.

  • Sleep medicine is a uniquely multidisciplinary field, allowing medical students and residents to enter through pathways like neurology, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry or otolaryngology. "I find sleep medicine to be an incredibly rewarding field. I enjoy the predictability of my workdays while still having opportunities to advance our specialty," says our sleep medicine physician Dr. Virginia Skiba. Gain more insights from Dr. Skiba, featured in the American Medical Association's "Shadow Me" Specialty Series. • Father-son interventional cardiologist duo Dr. William O'Neill and Dr. Brian O'Neill teamed up to perform Michigan's 1st artificial tricuspid heart valve procedure using the Edwards EVOQUE Tricuspid Valve Replacement system. This groundbreaking device, designed to treat severe tricuspid regurgitation, was implanted through a minimally invasive transcatheter procedure delivering the valve via a blood vessel in the leg. This innovative procedure gave new hope to patients like Kay Veitengruber, who had struggled with worsening Afib and heart conditions for nearly 20 years. After multiple heart procedures, Kay was introduced to the Edwards EVOQUE system as part of a clinical trial. Though the trial ended, she became Michigan’s first patient to receive the newly FDA-approved valve in February 2024. Today, Kay enjoys a renewed life, able to care for her great-grandchild and do the things she once thought impossible. “This device is truly a miracle. I can do things now that I couldn’t before,” she says. “I’m so grateful to the entire Henry Ford team for their kindness and compassion.”
