Kara Parker, MD, IFMCP – Director of Primary Care Integrative Medicine and Director of Well-Being, Whittier Clinic “At Whittier, we have integrative health providers, chiropractors, acupuncturists, integrative physical therapists, and group medical visits all in one building. As integrative health providers, we take the time to look in depth at a patient’s lifestyle – stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, social support, toxic exposures, home environment, and more. We advise changes and use the same tools as a family doctor, we just have an advanced tool kit. For the past four years, I’ve held long COVID-19 group medical visits to help patients apply a lifestyle and integrative approach. We have patients who, prior to joining this group, had symptoms that hadn’t shifted in 1-3 years. One is a dad who wanted to be present for his children, but his fatigue made him feel like he was missing out. Another was a professor who felt she wasn’t sharp enough to teach graduate students. Everyone in the group has made significant improvements in their capacity to think and move. They’re restoring their lives. For long COVID, there is no standard of care or evidence-based guidelines, so it’s a perfect example of how to use lifestyle and integrative medicine for healing.” Hennepin Healthcare Foundation is proud to highlight authentic stories from the wide variety of human beings who connect with our mission. Kindness that warms your heart … and hands! Members of the Minneapolis Area REALTORS® Association lovingly assembled 100 cinch bags filled with cold weather relief items for our unhoused patients and patients in need. Each bag contained a pair of mittens, a fleece hat, a fleece scarf and warm tube socks. We appreciate their generous hearts to lend a hand in this way. Katie from Colorado, was visiting Minnesota when she came to our hospital with a severe TBI a few years ago. She is now a freshman in college. Last summer she paid a visit to her care team to thank them and show them her progress. Successful patient stories like Katie's are what drive our fantastic pediatric caregivers. Outcomes in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and service in our pediatric unit are second to none. Read her remarkable story: https://ow.ly/OUbB50UsKUa

We care about the health of our communities and when preventable diseases are making kids sick, it's heartbreaking. We appreciate this CNN piece about measles -- a preventable, almost eradicated disease in the United States that unfortunately we still are seeing due to vaccine hesitancy. Thanks to the great work of our Pediatric, Mobile Health, Travel Medicine and Infection Prevention teams, we are reaching families to keep kids healthy. After you watch the CNN story, check out our Mobile Health's latest video on their web page: https://lnkd.in/gMhfmdDU
