Every year 1 in 10 babies are born too soon in the United States. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the global crisis of prematurity and joining in the fight for healthy moms and babies. In honor of #WorldPrematurityDay last month, landmarks and hospital systems lit their facilities in purple to help shed a light on this crisis. We proudly joined together with the March of Dimes on this important initiative and lit eight of our Houston hospitals in purple! 💜 This year, we are proud to share that Yasmene McDaniel, chief executive officer of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, has been named Chair for the 2025 March for Babies! Her passion for women's health continues to drive support for essential programs that support families facing the challenges of prematurity. Read more:

Robert Dwayne Williams, 61, has been an agricultural pilot ✈️ for over 30 years. One day, while flying, he felt as though he had pinched a nerve between his shoulders but continued on with his work. When he arrived home, he was still feeling ill, so he was taken to a local hospital where it was confirmed that Robert had suffered a heart attack and post-myocardial infarction ventricular septal rupture. Soon after, due to the complexity of his case, he was transferred to HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center to receive specialized heart care. ❤️ While there, he received life-saving surgery, and Robert is now on an incredible journey of recovery! As he began to get stronger 💪 each day, Robert's therapy team continued to help him start walking again. Playing his favorite song, 'Danger Zone' from the movie, Top Gun, it was only fitting that this particular song helped Robert find the strength and determination to walk an extra lap every day! 🎵 “They never treated me like a patient, the physicians and staff went above and beyond to care for me and my family,” said Robert. Learn more about Robert's inspiring story:

Did you know? Texas has the largest veteran population in the nation with over 250,000 veterans in residence. That is why we are so proud to help pay tribute to our men and women in the military by participating in the city's annual "Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration" parade that took place on #VeteransDay. This civic celebration honors and celebrates the brave men, women, and families who have fought and sacrificed for our liberty and freedom.

We proudly joined forces with local law enforcement for the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug #TakeBackDay. We helped collect 1,606 pounds of medications at our drop-off locations across Houston and South Texas! 💊 Thank you to community members and colleagues who dropped off unused and expired prescription medications for proper disposal at our event. The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects their commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
