Some detail shots of the metal facade of 2 Harbor in Boston’s Seaport district. The torqued metal banding is inspired by the shipping containers found on the waterfront nearby, while the inland facing facade is made to feel like corrugated metal. Large triple-glazed windows let in lots of light and offer a quiet working environment. We’re excited to share some photos of the InterContinental Taichung, Handel Architects’ newest project to open in Taiwan. The InterContinental is part of a larger mixed-use development that includes two residential towers, a cultural center, and a church designed by KENGO KUMA & ASSOCIATES. Situated beside Taichung's "greenbelt," the building extends this natural element vertically with a living green wall at its corner. Inside, the building opens up to its surroundings as guests pass through a monumental lobby. Congratulations to our client Pujen Land Development, and to InterContinental Hotels & Resorts for a successful grand opening. Introducing DunHua City Plaza, a new urban renewal mixed-use building in Taipei designed for FUBON LIFE INSURANCE CO., LTD. The two-tower project combines retail, office, and residential on a site adjacent to the major green spine in the Songshan District. The building’s curvilinear glass tower will hold the corner and create a belvedere overlooking the city. A series of cascading gardens flow inside; at night, the gardens are illuminated, turning the leading edge of the building into a monumental lantern. The office program of each tower is connected by a dramatic 2-story skybridge that is suspended above the podium. Amenities shared by both towers include a gym, wellness center, lounges, a coworking space with an amphitheater, two rooftop gardens, and an additional roof deck with an infinity pool. With great partners HCCH & Associates, Buro Happold, SSDC, and many others. Beautiful work from the Handel team of Gary Handel, Allen Cheng, Stephen Sheng, Eunice So, Yaoting Yang, Wei Wang, Birgitta Bjornsson, @Rocky Stilson, Cianne O., Carrie J., May Tsang, and Wilson Fong.
