On November 21, 2024, CMS updated its Core Appendix Q guidance on immediate jeopardy to clarify criteria for identifying serious noncompliance risks in health care settings. Beginning January 1, 2025, Illinois employers with 15 or more employees must include salary and benefits information in all job postings due to new pay transparency regulations. This requirement applies to internal and external job postings and extends to positions outside Illinois if the work is connected to the state. Failure to comply may result in fines of up to $10,000 for each violation. Congress extended key Medicare telehealth and hospital-at-home flexibilities through March 31, 2025. This includes: – Nationwide telehealth access for Medicare beneficiaries (no longer limited to rural areas) – Continued coverage for virtual care from home – Audio-only visits allowed for certain telehealth appointments These extensions bring short-term relief, but more work is needed for long-term solutions. On December 23, 2024, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit revived the enforceability of the Corporate Transparency Act. A federal district court in Texas previously issued a nationwide preliminary injunction preventing the federal government from enforcing the CTA.
