As our CEO John B. Rogers, Jr. says, the U.S. dockworkers' strike underscores the fragility of global supply chains. Haddy’s commitment to reshoring production is our safeguard, allowing us to create local jobs, innovate faster, and shield our business from disruptions like this. By focusing on regional manufacturing, we ensure sustainability, resilience, and quality—while avoiding the risks of international shipping delays. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. #reshoring #supplychainresilience #sustainability #circulareconomy #futureready #businessstrategy
U.S. dockworkers strike underway—what’s the real impact? With shipping disruptions spreading across the East and Gulf Coasts, the vulnerabilities of global supply chains are front and center… again (Red Sea Terrorism, COVID, etc). This is precisely why Haddy ‘s commitment to re-shoring production is more than a strategy—it's a safeguard. By investing in regional—in this case—American manufacturing, we not only create jobs but also protect our business and partners from disruptions caused by strikes and delays in foreign ports. Our local production model empowers us to move fast, innovate with sustainable materials, and guarantee quality, all while minimizing the environmental and economic risks of international shipping bottlenecks. At Haddy we're proof that reshoring isn’t just about cost-saving—it's about building a resilient, future-ready economy. We're reshaping the industry to stay resilient especially in times of uncertainty. It is Time. #Reshoring #SupplyChainResilience #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #FutureReady #BusinessStrategy https://lnkd.in/egQY2H8f

Why is the Furniture Supply Chain ripe for disruption and improvement….
Musical Chairs – The Rise and Fall and Rise in Global Furniture In the 1970s and 1980s, the U.S. furniture industry was dancing to its own music—growing, gently innovating, and building wealth. But when the music stopped abruptly in the 1990s, the seats had shifted across the ocean to China, leaving U.S. furniture manufacturers without a place to sit. The good news is that this game of musical chairs is about to restart with stable inflation, declining rates, and major reshoring initiatives, and the U.S. now has an opportunity to claim seats once again. However, this time, when done right, it will depend not on cheaper labor, but on technology. We, at Haddy, are playing a leading role. Net Positive -The Future of Labor in America 10 years ago, I challenged the best and brightest in American industry and government to join together to create the world’s first fully 3D printed car. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) @ORNl Cincinnati Inc, and Local Motors all convened under the aegis of the AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and we chose Chicago as the nexus. We gave ourselves 6 months to do the impossible, and together we succeeded. PhD’s and welders alike, locked human-arm in robot-arm. Bits and Bytes. Science and labor. On Sept 7, 2014, the Local Motors 3D printed car - the Strati - was printed from a file on a USB drive by a robot on the stage of the world‘s largest manufacturing technology show IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show 2014 Next week as the 2024 IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show show kicks off, several of us will be participating in a series of discussions in the same halls in Chicago, around how Advanced Manufacturing and the technology of 3D printing has changed the shape of industry… and change it, it has. In the last 10 years, a collaborative team at Local Motors refined the technology to beat all traditional vehicle results in crash tests, to deploy fleets of 3D printed autonomous vehicles, and to iterate at a pace unimaginable in 2010. And following that effort, multiple businesses leveraging large-scale additive technology have been founded creating jobs up and down the supply chain… jobs where before there were none. Even in our corner of Florida (Tampa Bay), my co-founders and I have joined 13 families with 8 robots to animate Haddy, the first commercial-scale 3D printing business focused on the global furniture market. As exciting as this is, and as positive as the progress has been, I’m compelled to look back at history and reflect on what this progress means for labor in the United States, in order to draw some much-needed conclusions. So here we go…. (And if you have kids, read carefully, as their future and their world depends on it). For the full article, click through and read on Medium.
