What Sales Teams Can Learn from Michael Jordan’s Practice Habits Michael Jordan spent over 10,000 hours practicing compared to about 1,072 hours playing in NBA games during his career. For every hour he dominated on the court, he invested 10 hours or more sharpening his skills, perfecting his moves, and preparing for the moments that would define his legacy. Now think about this: how much time do sales teams spend practicing versus “playing” in live customer meetings? Too often, salespeople are thrown into the game without enough preparation. Yet success in sales, like success in sports, doesn’t come from the moments under the spotlight—it comes from the relentless effort behind the scenes: • Practicing discovery calls. • Refining objection-handling techniques. • Role-playing difficult conversations. • Learning how to leverage data and technology.
