“Justice looks like a space to rest.” – The Nap Ministry by Tricia Hersey As the Nap Ministry reminds us, “Rest is a form of resistance because it disrupts and pushes back against capitalism and white supremacy.” Beginning Friday, December 13th, through Friday, January 3rd, Groundswell Fund offices will be closed to allow our staff time for rest and rejuvenation. We will return to the office on Monday, January 6th. We’ll see you in the new year – ready and rested.

I am so inspired and grateful to have attended this summit. As someone new to philanthropy, grounding in the wisdom and expertise of the Global South and the radical possibility of this incredible pledge at this time has been a balm for the grief of the last week. I’m leaving more equipped with strategies to move through coming years. Thank you to the Global Philanthropy Project team and M. Saida Agostini Bostic for thinking of Groundswell Fund. Looking forward to surpassing this next goal by June.
In a time of grief and despair, I am beyond proud and grateful to have worked with Matthew Hart and the incredible Global Philanthropy Project team to lead and launch the #FundOurFutures campaign. Yesterday at the first-ever Global LGBTI Funding Summit in Cape Town, just before the ILGA World conference, we launched the campaign with US $100 million in new funding secured for global LGBTI movements by 28 grantmaking institutions. We now work to reach $150 million by June 2025. At a time when LGBTI communities are under attack across the world and on the frontlines of struggles for human rights and democracy, several long-term donors are likely going to scale back or exit their funding. #FundOurFutures is our collective response, calling in new money to meet this moment. Join us. https://lnkd.in/gcaVCWrn

As we look to a new era of leadership, it’s clear that protecting access to affirming care, reproductive justice, and safe communities will require a collective effort. Groundswell Fund is committed to supporting organizations on the front lines, advocating for trans and gender-expansive healthcare, housing, and justice across the nation. #TransAwarenessMonth #GenderJustice #ReproductiveJustice #GroundswellFund #TransRights #SocialChange

Thank you to the grassroots organizers, the hands, the many. The fighters at the intersections of racial, reproductive, gender, climate, and immigration justice. Grassroots movements remind us that while elections are essential, they are not the only measure of progress. The real work continues in the streets, communities, and grassroots organizations committed to resisting authoritarianism and building a multiracial feminist democracy.
