The latest AI investment trends from a VC’s perspective 🤖 At #reInvent, #theCUBE details on the current market for AI investments in an exclusive with Jerry Chen, general partner at Greylock. “We're always trying to be the first mighty in seed series A. We want to back the founders right when they leave the companies or come out of school and they have this kind of crazy idea… Every VC that is going to talk about valuations all the time won't touch that with the 10-foot pole because it's never going to be the right price until it is a $100 billion company,” Chen shares. “We saw a whole bunch of folks invest in native mobile experiences like Instagram in the cloud. It's not really a platform shift yet because the way you consume software is still the same. We're playing around with wearables and glasses and goggles, but the way you consume software is still the same,” he adds, comparing today’s AI market to the early days of cloud-native investment trends. 📰 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dsqfw4Ut John Furrier #EnterpriseTech #AIinvestment #StartupTrends #MarketInsights

Today's newsletter features the story of Pepper, which has become a critical component of how independent food distributors can compete and thrive in an industry dominated by giants. But unlike other tech companies trying to build in the space, Pepper took a different approach. First, they assembled a team that had both technical expertise and those who truly understood the foodservice industry. And second, the team spent months working with potential customers, understanding all the operational details that would need to be accommodated in Pepper’s software. Pepper Co-founder and CEO Bowie Cheung reflects, "owning this capability and making it a core competency was key to our success." Read on for more 👇

Last week at Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:invent, Resolve AI, in partnership with Greylock, hosted an event on how Agentic AI is accelerating Software Engineering. The event brought together an exceptional group of engineering leaders from companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), NVIDIA, Blend, Opendoor, Automation Anywhere, Coinbase, Genesys, Guidewire Software, ISS A/S, Rubrik, Sierra, Splunk, and more. The discussions reaffirmed that we are at the cusp of a transformative era in software engineering, driven by AI. Here are a few key takeaways: From coding co-pilots to coding agents: Code auto-completion is widely adopted, but how far will Agentic AI take us? Will IDEs even exist 1-2 years from now? "10 years of running software for every 2 years of building" this is a quote from one of the attendees. The insight is that no matter how much we accelerate coding, we won’t go much faster unless software operations – such as incident troubleshooting and remediation – are also highly automated. Agentic AI skepticism is fading: Earlier this year, discussions focused on skepticism about whether Agentic AI could handle developer or SRE tasks. Now, the focus has shifted to how fast it will happen. Thanks to Chris Bailey, Manoj Thakkar, Nikos Anerousis, Kal Patel, Dinesh Sukhija, Ramana Lokanathan, Svetlana Zavelskaya, Angelo Marletta, Douglas A., Ippokratis Pandis, Raja Mukhopadhyay, Pascal Lapoirie, Adam Gee, Kevin Gao, Marcel Berneaud and Erik Wrobel for joining and participating in the discussion. A special thank you to Corinne Marie Riley and Greylock for partnering with us to make this event a success. The next one is going to be in SF in January. If you are interested to join please DM me.
