GFC’s Sandiip Bhammer Weighs in on the Future of Cleantech in India!🌍 We’re excited to share that Sandiip Bhammer, Founder and Managing Partner at Green Frontier Capital, was featured in a recent article by Inc42 Media, discussing the future of cleantech in India. The article explores the emerging opportunities and challenges in sectors like green hydrogen, electric vehicles, and sustainable agriculture, as India accelerates its efforts toward a greener future in 2025. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gY7E9ETQ #SustainableFuture #Innovation #GreenHydrogen #ElectricVehicles #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateTech
India’s cleantech narrative witnessed some important shifts in 2024 helped by investments into solar power and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and a much-needed innovation push for green hydrogen and nuclear fusion, which are coming under the spotlight as we step into 2025. Despite the progress in cleantech and climate tech innovation in 2024, the pace of progress remains slower than the accelerating climate crisis and the waste and carbon generated by human activities. As per a report by the Centre for Science and Environment, India faced extreme weather events on 93% of the days between January and September in 2024.These claimed thousands of lives, affecting 3.2 Mn hectares of crops, and the overall magnitude of destruction was much larger than that. The outlook is grim not just for India or the Global South, but nearly every country worldwide. There’s still the question of which segments are getting the investments, and whether these investments are addressing the problems that need to be solved today. As per those we spoke to, India’s cleantech priorities must include advancing renewable and clean energy solutions such as green hydrogen, enhancing waste recycling, improving carbon capture technologies, scientifically managing landfills, and implementing stricter ESG regulations for large corporations, that force them into action rather than just tokenism. Sharing an insightful article by our Managing Partner, Sandiip Bhammer. In it, he argues that VC and PE firms should be hiring more ‘sell-side’ professionals and investment bankers, rather than relying mainly on management consultants, tech founders, or former VCs. This shift, as Sandiip explains, makes strategic sense and is already happening as more VC’s globally struggle with delivering “DPI”. We invite you to read the article. and share your thoughts. Thank you. #VentureCapital #PrivateEquity #InvestmentBanking #VCTrends #InvestmentStrategy
Venture capital (VC) has long been the driving force behind innovation and early-stage growth. However, many VC firms face challenges during the critical exit phase, where the realisation and distribution of value occur—a measure known as distributions to paid-in capital (DPI). In an insightful authored piece, Sandiip Bhammer, Founder and Managing Partner, Green Frontier Capital, shed light on the "exit gap" and added that the expertise divide prevents VCs from optimising liquidity events like initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and secondary sales. VC firms integrating investment bankers into their teams will provide them with the needed expertise to bridge the exit gap. Investment bankers have the ability to transform VC operations by bringing their critical expertise, strategic insights, robust networks, and execution excellence. Addressing the exit gap redefines the role of VCs in the innovation ecosystem and leads them to fund disruptive startups. Exciting Milestone for Chupps: A Game-Changer in Sustainable Footwear✨🌍 Today, we are thrilled to celebrate a groundbreaking achievement from Chupps, one of Green Frontier Capital’s earliest investments. Chupps has just introduced India's first 100% biodegradable soles, a revolutionary step forward in sustainable footwear! This innovation directly addresses a critical environmental challenge: traditional plastic soles, which can take up to 450 years to decompose, while Chupps’ biodegradable soles break down in just 18 months. As India’s open footwear market—valued at over $4 billion—continues to grow, Chupps is leading the charge in creating eco-friendly products that reshape consumer habits and reduce plastic waste. As their first institutional investor, we couldn’t be prouder to support Chupps in their mission to seamlessly integrate sustainability into everyday life. This is just the beginning of a cleaner, greener tomorrow! #Sustainability #Innovation #Biodegradable #Footwear #PlasticWaste #PlasticCircularity
