Did you know that a recent survey found that 86% of respondents support the U.S. Forest Service's plans to preserve old-growth forests? For many, old-growth forests reflect a way of life, whether through outdoor recreation or active stewardship and management through their local community. Updating the Northwest Forest Plan is one way we can play an active role in helping the Forest Service better refine the ways we manage and steward old-growth forests.

The U.S. Forest Service recently released the long-awaited draft to update the landmark Northwest Forest Plan. “Much has changed in society and science since the Northwest Forest Plan was created nearly 30 years ago,” said Jacque Buchanan, regional forester for the Forest Service’s Pacific Northwest Region. “We’re amending the plan to address today’s challenges in ways that honor the plan’s original goals, while adapting to changing conditions and enhancing wildfire resilience.” Learn more about the proposed action and alternatives.
