  • January is National Mentoring Month! 💡 Did You Know? At Good Grief, our trained adult facilitators don’t share their personal loss stories. Instead, they create a safe, nonjudgmental space where young people can explore their grief on their own terms. This is a lot like mentorship! While mentors often guide from experience, the focus remains on empowering and uplifting the individual they’re supporting. #Grief #GriefSupport #PeerSupport #GoodGriefNJ #Mentorship

  • Grief touches all of us, yet so many myths and misconceptions surround it. These myths can create barriers to healing and make the grieving process even harder. That’s why we’re launching our new series: Grief Myth Busters. Together, we’ll uncover the truth behind common myths about grief, like: ❌ “Time heals all wounds.” ❌ “Children don’t grieve.” ❌ “Closure means moving on.” Twice a week, we’ll share a myth, explain the truth behind it, and provide actionable insights to help you or someone you care about navigate grief. Grief is complex, unique, and deeply human. Together, we can break down misconceptions and build a more grief-informed world. Follow along, and don’t forget to share these posts to spread awareness and support. • Reflecting on this time last year when Governor Murphy made history when he signed Bill S3330/A5015 making New Jersey the first state to require school districts to provide instruction on grief as part of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. In the last year, we have been proud to partner with schools across New Jersey and our statewide grief support partner organizations to lay the groundwork to create a more grief-informed state for our children. • 💛 Good Grief helps families like Maryann’s feel less alone, providing tools and support to navigate unimaginable loss. Together, we can ensure every grieving family finds a place to belong. 👉 Your gift makes a difference—donate today: https://lnkd.in/eEEViUGV Read more from Maryann here: “The staff at Good Grief, and our peers in loss, provided us with understanding, empathy, and comfort. Having a place where we could share our fears, uncertainty, and hesitation about how to go forward was of significant help to us. We greatly benefitted from sharing in the companionship of loss. We were able to have judgement-free, honest conversations with people that were also going through the grieving process.” #Grief #GriefSupport #GoodGriefNJ #EOYGiving #Donate #PeerSupport
